A tough head-to-head battle between the Business and Management (B&M) Vipers and Accountancy (ACC) Griffins rumbled through the 6th floor of Martin Hall during their championship bout in both singles and doubles men’s categories in the Table Tennis tournament this Palarong Atenista 2023.

In the singles category, Romano Pocholo “Cholo” Lepardo from the Accountancy cluster won against Mc Keith Polinar from B&M Vipers in a close-match championship bout.

Lepardo was able to lead the first round until the five-point mark, but Polinar was able to catch up and gain the win for the first round with a score of 11-9. Nevertheless, Lepardo recovered the succeeding sets with a landslide win, garnering a 5-11, 2-11, and 6-11 scoreboard.

The Griffin player shared that winning feels good, but the practice and training he did were not easy.

“Just keep calm and don’t mind the scoreboard. If you mind the score, mas lalo kang kulbaan,” Lepardo said when asked about his strategies during the game.

In the finals men’s doubles category, B&M Vipers’ Christian Elorde and Kenn Patrick Lao won the five-set game against ACC Griffins’ Arman Santos and Earl Familar. The match was a close-call game with only a maximum of a three-point difference.

Despite the 7-11 win of Accountancy in two consecutive sets in the championship match, the B&M was able to catch up with an 11-8, 11-6,11-9 scoreboard in the remaining three sets, resulting in their triumph.

When asked what the B&M Vipers’ goal was, Elorde said, “Actually, ang goal namin kahit second lang okay na. But we realized na, kung magagawa namin kaya pala namin.”

“Cooperation lang. Kase dapat we really understand each other to make it happen,” Elorde added.
