Dedicated to the eternal repose of souls, Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) students and staff united in prayer as they celebrated the Mass for the Dearly Departed held this morning at the Our Lady of Assumption Chapel, AdDU-Jacinto campus.
The holy mass was presided by Fr. Archimedes Lachica and co-celebrated by Fr. Daniel McNamara, both from the Society of Jesus.
The Campus Ministry Office Higher Education Community, together with the AdDU Non-teaching Personnel, Campus Liturgical, and Eucharistic Ministries initiated the said celebration.
During his homily, Fr. Lachica emphasized the need for prayers, not only for our dead loved ones but most especially for the living. He also highlighted the presence of the living God who dwells in us even beyond our consciousness.
Llerose Lonzaga of the Ateneo Campus Ministry also gave her insights about the importance of such religious occasion.
“Aside from its main intention to pray for our dearly departed, this mass is intended for us to gather the community for the new semester,” Lonzaga said.
“As we remember the experiences of living with our family and friends who already passed away, we are reminded to do acts of mercy because we are one with the Lord, “she said.
