Students from different clubs and organizations celebrated the Feast of St. Ignatius by participating in the Night with Iggy last July 30 and 31 at the Finster auditorium.

The overnight event, which started 9 PM, featured various activities such as the talk show among Jesuit priests, group sharing, and praise and worship activity.

During the talk show, Academic Vice-President Rev. Gabriel Gonzales, and Rev. Tony Basilio shared their various experiences before they became Jesuit priests, with SAMAHAN moderator Lunar Fayloga as host. After the talk show, the two Jesuit priests rendered a song number to entertain the audience.

Faye Ramirez, one of the participants from Catholic Liturgical Ministry, expressed that she found the talk show remarkable.

“Mas na-understand nako na naay other side gyud ang mga holy and religious people like the Jesuit priests. Parehas kay St. Ignatius. Bisan saint sya, normal person gihapon sya na kabalo mahurt ug ma-happy,” she said.

Selected clubs like the Glee Club, Subdominant 7, Society of Ateneo Literature and English Majors (SALEM), and the Ateneo Dance Theater (ADT) also rendered different intermission numbers.

A mass was also held the morning after, presided by University President Fr. Joel Tabora SJ.

In his homily, he reminded everyone to “choose life” and “go to war for the big things,” emphasizing that individuals must fight for the fundamental “battles” and not for the petty ones.

“The event helped me by means of making me understand na bisan naa tay obstacles sa life kay maka-succeed gihapon ta ug ma-inspire sa uban as reflected sa life ni St. Ignatius,” Ramirez expressed.

The Night with Iggy is an annual event that is held in anticipation of the Feast of St. Ignatius, which is celebrated every 31st of July.
