June 9, 2014 – The Roxas Grounds was filled with colors as the SAMAHAN Central Board’s semester opener welcomed the students with the theme “READY, SET, SPLASH!”
The event started with the loud and energetic cheers from the different divisions (Accountancy, Business & Management, Computer Studies, Humanities & Letters, Natural Sciences & Mathematics, School of Education, School of Engineering & Architecture, School of Nursing, and Social Sciences) as they paraded from the Thibault to the Roxas Grounds.
After the parade, the representatives of each division proudly waved their flags as the hosts, Frank Nico Bernardino & Roxanne Aliviado, called them. The roll call was followed by an opening prayer, the singing of the Philippine national anthem, and the Blue Knight Song.
To really make a splash, a dance number was performed composed of three dancers from each division. Then, Regel Kent Asuero, the SAMAHAN Central Board President gave his opening remarks.
After the opening remarks, the SAMAHAN Central Board officers and committee heads were introduced.
Performances from Star Search, Awitenista, and division talents were also witnessed.
“We got to see the diversity of the divisions and the capabilities of our own division,” said Yves Espino, a first year BS in Nursing student, when asked about what he thought of the semester opener.
