CONQUERING THE RIFT. The Computer Studies Chameleons locked in their strategies and dominated the battle arena with their sharp gameplay, claiming the championship title during the Palarong Atenista 2025 DOTA 2 Championships on September 21 at the NCGC Esports Hub. Photo by Jeb Buyser

The Computer Studies (CS) Chameleons snapped camouflage from silver to gold, obliterating the Accountancy (ACC) Griffins in a best-of-three DOTA 2 championships during the Palarong Atenista ‘25, 2-0.

The first game opened with the CS Chameleons quickly seizing control within the first 5 minutes, as Isaiah Gabucan, Karl Hameed Cayugan, Janstin Ysvert Yamota, Josh Asidoy, Jordan Tubianosa, Aaron Tangcay, Lewis Von Caballero, and King Joseph Minguito snowballed off early pick-offs and rotation, putting ACC Griffins’ Jim Sethli Bonotan, Kim Patrick Gerald Amplayo, Justine Ines, Japheth Ray Orilla, Jerome Yu, Cholo Miguel Puno, and Antonio Manuh Hinampa onto the back foot.

From there, the Chameleons pressed their lead into a staggering 37-7 kill score, with their core of Puck, Shadow Fiend, and Abaddon denying the Griffin’s Axe and Luna any foothold to mount a comeback, decisively closing the game in 23 minutes.

In a bid to shift momentum in game two, Griffins first drafted both Rubick and Shadow Fiend to block pick Chameleons’ game 1 core and to secure Rubick’s spell steal, immobilizing the other team’s ultimate spells.

In response, Chameleons counter-picked with Shadow Demon against Rubick’s weak laning phase against it, and picked heroes, such as Tusk and Nature’s Prophet, tailored for constant skirmishes and early pressure leading to ganks.

At the 21-minute mark, the Chameleons secured a pivotal Roshan, converting the aegis advantage into a crucial teamfight win that left ACC pinned and perpetually on the defensive.

CS dominated every clash that followed, steadily tightening their map control until closing 43-25 at the 40-minute mark.

CS Chameleons team coach Josh Asidoy shared that game one’s draft immediately made them confident that victory was within grasp.

“Sa first game kay nafigure out namo’g taman ang draft. Kabalo na mi na daog na mi pagkahuman sa draft…Tapos sa second game, siguro after atong Rosh[an] fight, na turn around namo, nakuha namo’g balik ang lead unya na snowball into win.” he stated.

When asked about their silver finish last year against the 23-’24 back-to-back DOTA 2 Champion, the School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) Tigers, the team said that this year’s early elimination of SEA allowed them to play confidently and with more controlled pacing in their gameplay.

“Honestly, wala namin masyado na-feel ‘yung pressure no’ng nawala na ang Engineering. Ang strategy namo [sa Accountancy] kay ginapick namo among comfort heroes na meta tapos gina-disable namo ang pagdula sa ilang players, ginashutdown namo ilang players.”

With the CS Chameleons winning gold, the Accountancy Griffins claimed silver, while the Business & Management Vipers clinched Bronze against SEA.

The DOTA 2 championship took place on September 21 at NCGC HQ Esports Hub, 2F Tongson Building, Sta. Ana Avenue, Davao City.
