The School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) Tigers dominated the game and bagged the champion title for the 501 Darts Men Category in this year’s Palarong Atenista ‘24.
The tournament followed the game mechanics of each player having 501 points to clear in every leg of darts (a set of the game), with the first one to clear all points winning the leg.
After beating the Social Sciences (SS) Dragons in 3 of 5 legs with a standing of 3-1, James Philip Pulido paved the way for the SEA to get to the final round.
The first leg for the championship started with Pulido deducting 45-70-25 in his first 3 turns, narrowing his points to clear to 361, and finishing it with a game shot of 85 points.
The game became intense when Humanities and Letters (HUMLET) Wolves turned the table after acquiring 125 points in the first turn and left Pulido with 164 points to clear.
Pulido finally wept the HUMLET Wolves after clearing his scores first in the last 3 legs, finishing the last leg with a clean shot of double and single 20, summing 60 points.
In an interview with Atenews, Pulido shared that he joined the Palarong Atenista’s tryout in the previous year but was unable to participate due to shortcomings.
“Last year, I tried out but lost. That’s why I wanted to come back stronger and hopefully win the next [game],” added Pulido.
The SEA Tiger also shared that during his practice sessions at home, he aimed to score 60 points and higher.
“60 is best… because I know it would be difficult to beat a player that scores high[er].”
Coming in second place is the HUMLET Wolves, with the School of Nursing (SON) Panthers in third place.
The darts men’s category was held on the 4th Floor of Martin Hall on September 15.
