The School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) Tigers brought back the overall championship title to their cluster in this year’s Ateneo UFest ‘24 after claiming 9 gold medals and 44 overall accumulated points, leading the sports tally among the other clusters.
The Tigers’ supposed 3-year continuous overall championship from 2021 to 2022 was interrupted by the Accountancy (ACC) Griffins from last year’s competition, placing the Tigers in fourth place.
In an interview with Atenews, the SEA Cluster Representative Norsheena Pacamaman shared that the key to the Tigers’ victory was to encourage the players to play with passion and dedication.
“I always tell this to my people na always treat [the game] with the heart because it will really project to your people, and your constituents will really feel it…this type of leadership is mas ma-encourage mo sila to bring out the best in them,” Pacamaman said.
Pacamaman revealed that the cluster narrowly missed the podium in the cheer dance competition by just 0.5 points, which became a pivotal moment for the Tigers to develop a more effective strategy.
”Before the preparation, I had a lot of trust with the people that I worked with coming from the coaches, my officers and my players… but I also understand that things can happen and during the games, all you can really do is to put your trust in your people,” Pacamaman shared.
“Hopefully for the next competition next year, we will be able to project kung ano yung na-project namin ngayong palaro…So for the next year, the same one, the same goal, laban with puso, and bag the championship.”
This year’s Palarong Atenista saw the Business and Management (B&M) Vipers, the Social Sciences (SS) Dragons, and the School of Nursing (SON) Panthers in a three-way tie as they all bagged 5 gold medals yet differed in the number of silver medals acquired.
Concluding the podium, the B&M Vipers secured the overall first runner-up with 5 silver medals and 39 overall accumulated points, the SS Dragons as second runner-up with 5 silver medals and 31 overall accumulated points, followed by the SON Panthers as third runner-up with 2 silver medals and 31 overall accumulated points.
The awarding of the winners for this year’s Palarong Atenista culminated on the 4th Floor of Martin Hall on September 28, 2024.
