The Business & Management (B&M) Vipers proved themselves to be the kings of the court as they triumphed over the School of Engineering & Architecture (SEA) Tigers in the basketball men championship match, 4/F Martin Hall, August 14.

With a score of 78-57, the Vipers drew first blood by going ahead as much as 20 points before the first half expired. The Tigers would never recover from the deficit.

Team captain Mahloney Tarranza expressed his elation for winning the championship.

“I am really thankful that we win the championship before we leave Ateneo. I can’t put my happiness into words; we are just really blessed that God answered our prayers,” Tarranza told Atenews.

Vipers player Ralph Justin Ang shared that he was just elated that their practices and sacrifices were rewarded.

“I felt very happy because all of our hard work paid off and we look forward to the next season,” he added.

First year Marketing student Jhazmin Audrey Yamuta was proud of her cluster for being the overall basketball men champion.

“Makahappy kasi B&M nanalo! Actually, not to brag, pero I was really confident na sila talaga manalo kasi I’ve watched them play rin before championship. Makita ko competitiveness nila. And one thing that I noticed was that they weren’t complacent. Na kahit malayo na score nila from their opponent, they still play the game as if malapit lang difference ng score,” she said.

Accountancy (ACC) Griffins placed third, followed by Natural Sciences & Mathematics/School of Education/School of Nursing (NSM/SOE/SON) Stags, Social Sciences (SS) Dragons, Computer Studies (CS) Chameleons, and Humanities & Letters (Humlet) Wolves.
