Hundreds of runners gathered at the Roxas Avenue in front of Ateneo de Davao University as they joined the MindaRun 2016 on the morning of Sept. 18.
Before the race, participants had a variety of warm-up exercises such as stretching and breathing exercises.
Organized by the SAMAHAN Central Board (SCB), runners joined the event via three catergories:
The three-kilometer run which ran from Roxas Avenue to El Bajada Hotel and back. The five-kilometer run which ran from Roxas Avenue to Abreeza Mall and back. And the 10-kilometer run which ran from Roxas Avenue up to SM Lanang Premier and back.
Throughout the fun run, runners were given refreshments like water in order to keep them energized and energized throughout the race.
By the end of the race, runners were given finisher certificates and received food and drinks.
“Well, sa experience ko, fun siya na experience kasi kasama ang classmates. Have fun lang. Walang mag-seryosohan pag mag-race ka like [it’s a] fun, bonding experience with your classmates lang,” Evert Klein Delmo, a second year Civil Engineering student who joined the fun run said.
“Happy ako kasi naka-bonding pa kami always. Naka-exercise ka pa. Nakatulong ka pa sa Ateneo de Zamboanga at sa Lake Sebu,” Delmo added.
During the MindaRun’s closing program, selected participants were able to receive raffle prizes from the SCB.
At the awarding ceremony, Arlan Arbois was declared as the champion in the three-kilometer category, while Joerge Andrada and Elmar Bartolo were awarded as the champions of the five-kilometer category and 10-kilometer category respectively.
The proceeds for the MindaRun 2016 will go to the Rehabilitation of Ateneo de Zamboanga University, the Lake Sebu community in South Cotabato, and the victims of the Roxas Night Market Bombing.
