Dexter Joy Gupana of the Accountancy Division made history after being declared as the champion in the men’s division of Sudoku held at J301 Sunday afternoon.

Sudoku, a “logic-based number placement puzzle”, is a newly included game in the list of other indoor games such as chess and scrabble in this year’s Palarong Atenista.

The Sudoku contest is comprised of three rounds each with corresponding points. The easy round is worth 50 points, the average round is worth 75 points and the difficult round is worth 120 points.

Gupana, who gained a total of 155 points, scored 30 in the easy round, 45 in the average, and 80 in the difficult round.

“First kay honored kay first pa man siya na event and then nakauna ka na champion. Happy pud kay nag pay-off ang practices,” Gapuna said.

Gapuna also emphasized the need to exercise one’s will to complement the divine will.

“If will gyud nimo  nga naa kay makuha  kay kailangan pud nga I show nimo through your actions. Of course, if will pud ni God makuha gyud nimo.” Gapuna added.

The second place was nabbed by Kenneth Daniel Quesada of the School of Engineering and Architecture who garnered a total of 130 points and the third place by Jono luiz Cosio of Computer Studies Cluster who garnered a total of 105 points.
