Philippine Army Chief Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana confirms this incident.

Several residents in the area have alerted the public by sharing photos of the fire as well as videos wherein intense exchange of gunshots were heard.

Based on initial investigation, 6th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Central Spokesperson, LTC. Anhouvic Atillano reported that the group of alias “Motorola” was responsible for the said attack.

In the meantime, Sobejana said that the situation in Datu Piang has been controlled by the combined forces of police and military units.

“As of now, we are in control of the town proper,” Sobejana said in a message.

Moreover, Western Mindanao Command Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan said that a BIFF group “harassed” a police station in Datu Piang poblacion at around 11 pm.

“Contained na ng government troops. May nasunog lang na police car, no reported casualties.”
