Badminton Doubles: Wolves, Griffins, Lions pick up wins

Different divisions battled out relentlessly for badminton glory last Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Smashville gym during the Palarong Atenista 2015.

For mixed doubles, the dynamic duo of Beatriz Lim and Christian dela Cruz rose to victory by besting their opponents in convincing fashion.

The players were split into three brackets, after which the top teams from each bracket were pitted against each other.

The semis featured the HumLet Wolves pair of Pilapil and Baricuatro taking on Banas and Victoriana of the faculty. The BM vipers on the other hand, faced Ardina and Ode of the Accountancy Griffins.

For the men’s doubles, the Wolves featured the synergy and coordination of the Tom brothers, Chris and Julius, as they mauled their way through the competition.

This also followed the three-bracket system, with the teams split and competing to get to the top of their respective divisions.

The semis saw the Tom brothers against the School of Education Sharks’ Kenneth Inguito and AC Consencino The other game featured the accountancy griffins represented by Melomida and Charles Alcaza pitted against the School of Engineering and Architecture Tigers with Wilbento Tiu and Hans Rovillos.

In the women’s doubles category, the Griffins took the crown with the duo of Marianne Gampoa and Erika Calero.

The Semis featured a heated battle between the Griffins and the Vipers led by Samantha Nunez and Mikaela Mardoquio.  In the corresponding bracket, the Faculty lions represented by Jocelyn Gumpad and Theresa Quindoy defeated the Wolves duo of Lorie Lique and Joanne Yap.
