To unite the faculty and staff of the Ateneo de Davao campuses and to promote camaraderie and fun among the university’s employees, the Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRDMO) organized the Ateneolympics last Oct. 1 to Nov. 12.

“[The Ateneolympics] is part of the integrated wellness program of the HRMD Office.

“ It also aims all employees to gather as one community, outside of work, to have fun and to build friendship and camaraderie,” University Human Resource Director Atty. Niceforo V. Solis, Jr. said.

The Olympics began last Oct. 1 and culminated last Nov. 12 at the Martinez Sports Complex.

Faculty and staff of both Ateneo de Davao Campuses participated in the said event.

The school personnel were divided into five teams: the Non-teaching Personnel, the Grade School Unit, the Junior High School Unit, the Senior High School Unit, and the College Unit.

Sports and games like volleyball, basketball and tug of war were sported in the Olympics.

The competing teams were in close fights, but in the end, the College unit emerged as champions.

The said Olympics was the first Ateneolympics in 10 years.

“Ateneolympics is a program of the school that has not been implemented for the past 10 years,” Solis said.

The HRDMO along with the athletics department, and the university’s union offices coordinated the said event.
