The School of Nursing (SON) Panthers unleashed their artistic claws at Duyog 2025: The Ateneo UFest, seizing the crown in Bandera: Banner Making.
Guided by the festival theme “Rhythm of One Ateneo,” SON Panthers main artist Chester Joseph Mirage Lendio revealed how their design harmonized artistry, cultural symbolism, and school spirit, as they featured a piano with keys representing different clusters.
“The message we wanted to express is that as Ateneans, we are all connected, united through the rhythm of music. Each element in the banner represents how our individuality and diversity still move together in harmony,” Lendio emphasized.
The team spent nearly three weeks working on the banner, squeezing sessions into their available schedules.
“We worked on the banner for almost three full weeks, from planning and sketching to painting. It wasn’t every day, but we maximized our free time to complete it.”
He also pointed out that time was their toughest opponent, as they learned to juggle academic load, hospital duties, and case presentations, all while navigating the hectic schedule of the event.
“The biggest challenge was our schedule… we had hospital duties, so figuring out who was free to help was difficult.”
Trailing closely behind the gold-winning SON Panthers were the Computer Studies (CS) Chameleons, who won the first runner-up spot, followed by the School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) Tigers on the second runner-up spot.
Banner production ran from September 20 to October 8, with the official unveiling on October 9 and the awarding ceremony on December 11 at 6F Martin Hall.
