Drawing from Filipino folklore’s mythical creatures theme, the Accountancy (ACC) cluster’s Junior Accountants’ Guild of United Artists for Recognition (JAGUAR) showcased a retelling of Ibong Adarna that left the audience spellbound.
ACC Griffins’ event manager Denzy Bless Casiano explained the choice of theme, opting for a fresh take on Filipino mythology to highlight their distinctiveness.
“Yun ang gipili sa kanilang coach kay napansin nila na lahat kay parang mythical creatures: mga aswang, mga serena, mga mangkukulam. So naiisip ng coach nila na mag ibong adarna para maiba.”
She recollected their setback when their routine leaked online and how they prioritized empathy to resolve the rift.
“Parang 2-minute video yon and meron doon yung mga stunt and then mga highlights. So nung time na yon paramg nagka conflict talaga ang ASEC, Heads, ako [na] manager, and then ang dancers…pero mas gipili namin… na magpakumbaba and intindihin talaga sila kasi grabe yung pinagdaanan nila: practices nila from 9:00 PM to 12:00 MN, minsan mag extend pa sila mga 1:00 AM to 2:00 AM..”
The sudden earthquake last October 2025 postponed the event’s initial scheduled date, which Casiano viewed as both a financial burden and an opportunity to refine their choreography.
“For me, meron siyang bad effect kay mas nagastuhan pa mi. But favor pud siya sa amoa kay sa mga previous practices nila parang di pa nila kaya na i-champion. Kaya nila pero hindi pa kami ingana ka-confident, [unlike] sa nakita nato karon…mas maimprove pa nila and mas makaisip pa sila more para ipakita sa Ateneo.”
The Business and Management (B&M) Vipers’ Glycons Dance Company took first runner-up as “sirens of the sea” or “Sirena,” and the Social Sciences (SS) Dragons’ Hydra presented the horrific truth of “Mangkukulam, earning second runner-up.”
