With local delicacies on display, faculty, and students gathered to share in the Kakanin Festival held today at the Arrupe Hall.

The Human Resource Management Development Office (HRMDO) again hosted the event given the positive response garnered from last year’s Kakanin Festival.

In collaboration with the HRMDO, several university offices sponsored the event and helped in making the booths.

HRMDO Director Niceforo Solis acknowledged the shared efforts among the university offices and the support from the Jesuits.

“Magmalipayon ta karong fiesta ug unta makakaon ‘tang tanang sa pagkaon na giandam sa lain-laing opisina sa Ateneo na atong mga sponsors pati ang mga Jesuits na nagsuporta sa atoa,” Solis remarked.

Solis also honored the Blessed Virgin Mary as the essence of the celebration in his shared remarks.

Feasted upon by faculty members, agency workers, security guards and students, delicacies were presented and shared including lugaw, pinalutaw, cassava cake, fish crackers, sorbetes, sapin-sapin, suman and bitso-bitso.

Bingo cards were also distributed to faculty staff in a game of Human Bingo. The cards also served as their raffle tickets for those who accomplished the tasks on the bingo card.

An amateur singing contest was also participated by the university employees.

Delia Lenaming, a lady security guard of the university, shared how she enjoyed the event.

“Sa pananaw nako enjoy gyud [ang Kakanin Festival],” she said.

Lenaming also shared how this year’s Kakanin Festival lived up to the hype as it did last year.

Fems Malsi, a first-year student, commented on her first-time experience of the event.

“Lingaw siya tapos open for all man gud siya—employees and students tas magkita-kita gyud mo tanan,” Malsi expressed.

The Kakanin Festival was first held on 2017 and since then became a regular annual event held during the Ateneo Fiesta Week.
