Spirits were high and the air was filled with anticipation as the 68th Ateneo Fiesta kicked off last Aug. 11 at the 4th floor Martin Hall with the Accountancy (ACC) Griffins soaring again to claim the first event of the morning, the Group Dance Showdown (GDS).

Nine clusters vied for the GDS crown with their dances filled with colorful costumes, trendy moves, music ranging from old throwback songs to the newest releases today.

Memorable performances such as the pro-humanity theme of the Computer Sciences (CS) Chameleons to the slick and smooth show of the Engineering and Architecture (EA) Tigers to the upbeat and feel-good presentation of the Business and Management (B&M) Vipers and the masterful performance of the dancers from Accountancy cluster graced the stage earlier.

Yet, in the end, the Griffins emerged victorious, establishing a four-year dominance– with the cluster having won the GDS for the past three years.

The Accountancy dance crew consisted of Gio Maniwan, Paolo De Los Santos, Edison Villamor and Pauline Sepulvida.

When asked in how it felt to win the event for the fourth time, Maniwan shared that being a champion is just a bonus.

“The best feeling parin is makaperform kami at least for the last time sa Ateneo stage and we’ve done it perfectly,” he said.

However, he also said that the team suffered some setbacks prior to the event. He stated that they only began practicing just three weeks before the event and that illnesses plagued some of the dancers. But he thanked God for allowing them to perform perhaps for the last time on the Ateneo stage.

The Vipers and Tigers bagged the 2nd and 1st runner-up trophies, respectively.

End the silence of the gagged!
