The commencement of College Days heats up as the nine divisions competed this year for the title of Utakan Champion at the Roxas Grounds last February 17.

On the easy round, the CS Chameleons took the lead with 16 points, followed by the NSM Falcons, SON Panthers and SOE Sharks on second place with 14 points.

On the average round, the SS Dragons took the lead with an impressing 65 points, followed by BSA Griffins, CS Chameleons and HUMLET Wolves with 55 points each.

On the difficult round, the HUMLET Wolves growled its way to the top with 60 points, putting them at the first place side-by-side with SS Dragons as the total scores were revealed.

In the end, the HUMLET Wolves outranked the SS Dragons on the top spot during the tie breaker round, hailing them as this year’s Utakan Champion. SS Dragons were followed by the CS Chameleons as 2nd runner up and SEA Tigers as 3rd runner up.

Mahatter Mompoc, a fourth year Mass Communication student who was a part of the HUMLET team, was overwhelmed by the success that they achieved.

“We thought na hindi na kami makakahabol sa other divisions kasi CS talaga yung pinaka-matibay sa lahat ng group when it comes to Utakan and then na-surprise kami na nag-top kami sa difficult round,” Mompoc exclaimed.

Mompoc pointed out that unity among its members was the secret of their success during the competition.

“Hinihingi namin ang answers ng iba if ever hindi kami sure and then nag vovote kami kung kanino dapat ang susundin answer,” Mompoc explained.

HUMLET Representative Louise Anne Subido was very proud of their representatives.

“Basta proud lang talaga kami masyado because this year, we came on top tapos last year medyo nasa bottom kami so ngayon, bawi,” Subido said.

Subido observed that there was good chemistry among the members of the team even though they only met that day. It helped them in coming up with the right answers and get into the top.

“HUMLET students, champion tayo sa Utakan and don’t forget to congratulate our participants because I’m sure that all their efforts are all for you,” Subido concluded.

End the silence of the gagged!
