In celebration of the Festival of Excellence, the Ateneo community gathered for the Holy Mass celebrated yesterday, Feb. 20, at the Our Lady of Assumption Chapel, Ateneo de Davao University- Jacinto campus.

The Eucharistic celebration was held to officially open the Festival of excellence of the Higher Education Community. The main presider and homilist of the mass was Fr. Ramon Prudencio Toledo, SJ. Concelebrants of the said mass were Fr. Tony Basilio and Fr. Rene Ocampo, both from the Society of Jesus.

During his homily, Fr. Toledo said that it is auspicious to start this year’s Fstival of Excellence with the mass readings that stressed much about wisdom.

“For learning to become wisdom, it has to get from point to point other than oneself. Learning should not only be for self-modification but has to be something that creates miracles, healing and also joy for other people,” he explained.

The long-week celebration of the Festival of Excellence would revolve around the theme, “Ateneans Celebrating Excellence: An Integration of Academics, Spirituality and Social Engagement towards a Transformative Culture and Arts”.
