In celebration of the World Day of Architecture, the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Davao Chapter organized a Mural Painting Project at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Elementary School at Camp Panacan, Davao City last Oct. 3.

The event was attended by about seventy students from Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU), University of the Philippines Mindanao (UPMin) and University of Mindanao (UM).

The concept of the mural involved architecture’s involvement in peace.

“Architecture becomes a bridge among different cultures. This bridge becomes a tool for understanding each other, igniting a spark of peace,” Sean Fuentes, a participant of the project, said.

According to panorama.am, World Architecture Day, also known as World Day of Architecture, was founded in 1985 to celebrate architecture and architects’ professional holiday. Originally observed in the first Monday of July, the celebration was moved in the first Monday of October, instead, coinciding with United Nations’ World Habitat Day.
