“The heroes in our lives are not born heroes.”

This was the statement of Sen. Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV during the e-Hangouts yesterday, Aug. 27 at the Community Center’s Pakighinabi room.

The e-Hangouts was an online video conference among Bam Aquino, student-leaders from Bicol University, and students from Ateneo de Davao University, in connection with the celebration of the National Heroes’ Day this coming Aug. 31.

The actual program with the said senator at the Bicol University was live-streamed at the Pakighinabi Room so that students can also interact with the senator.

During the event, to celebrate the heroism of the late Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr., the film “The Last Journey of Ninoy” was shown simultaneously at the two universities.

The said documentary film chronicled the final days of Ninoy from August 12 to August 21, 2015 until his assassination at the Manila International Airport (now Ninoy Aquino International Airport).

Students from both universities shared their thoughts and asked various questions about the film during the open forum. However, most of the questions raised afterwards tackled the policies, programs and advocacies of the senator.

Students also raised inquiries about present issues on the country’s slow Internet connection, taxation, and tuition fee increases, among others.

The “Ten Accomplished Youth Organization (TAYO) Awards” pioneered by the senator was also promoted during the event.

In AdDU, the e-Hangouts was participated by the officers from the SAMAHAN Central Board (SCB) and various club presidents.
