At least 131 student journalists from 18 student publications around the region gathered to take part in the Pluma 2K15: A Comprehensive Journalism Skills Training yesterday, Aug. 8, at the Ricci Hall of the Ateneo de Davao University Community Center.

Chairperson Dave Steven Villamora discussed about the history of College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP) and the Campus Press Freedom (CPF).

He also said that this year’s Pluma is different from last year’s because “it is more advance” in terms of lectures and workshops.

The workshops during the event were Creative Literary Writing, Advanced News Writing, Editorial Writing, Feature Writing, Advanced Cartooning, Graphics and Lay-outing, and Tri-media Publishing and Management.

Lecture speakers were Vina Araneta-Pilapil, Reymond Pepito, Steven Chua, Andrea Isabelle Mejos, Marianne Saberon-Abalayan, and Karlo Antonio David, among others.

By the end of the session, a new set of Ad Hoc Committee was elected. Paulo Rizal of UP Mindanao’s Himati was elected as the Committee Chairperson.

Pluma was organized by CEGP with HardHat, the official student publication of AdDU’s School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA), as the host publication.
