To mark the kickoff of this year’s School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) Week, students and faculty gathered last Jan. 30 at room F313.

With “8 Wonders of Engineering and Architecture” as its theme, the event aims to celebrate camaraderie, as well as showcase the ideas and discoveries of the different SEA courses.

EA Representative Derizza Giselle Laburada shared an overview for this year’s EA week.

“The idea for the theme revolves around the main discoveries per course, for example, gears for mechanical engineering, or electricity for electrical engineering. Aside from having activities na lingaw lingaw lang, we have also prepared activities that incorporate the academic side of EA,” she said.

Third year Electrical Engineering student Arnel Lagarte shared his thoughts on the event.

“Nice siya, and ma-happy jud mi basta EA Week kay naa jud chance ang students na maka-break sa acads, kay tungod sa mga activities nga maka-lingaw. And maka-bonding pud mi with our co-engineering students,” he said.

“For this year, gina-expect nako nga mas inclusive siya, na mas daghan siya ma-cater na mga students,” he added.

The activities for the week-long celebration include the Fasthematics quiz which was done during the opening ceremony. There will also be a course fair which will have Ateneo de Davao University Senior High School students who are interested in engineering and architecture courses in attendance, a quiz bowl, and a 3D printing seminar, on Feb. 1,3 and 4 respectively.
