Dominating the first three sets with powerful spikes and effective blocks, the Accountancy (BSA/AT) Lady Griffins were again hailed as champions, marking their 9th peat victory in the Volleyball women’s category, after defeating the Business & Management Lady Vipers this morning, August 15 at 7th floor of the Martin Hall.

Miscommunication among the Vipers obstructed their game standing, making them lose a number of rallies. This enabled the Griffins to take the lead, drawing first blood in the first set, ending at 25-20.

During the early part of the second set, the Vipers were determined to overthrow the team in yellow and managed to take a three-point lead. The Griffins however, stormed back and took control of the game by taking the rest of the second set behind great team play and some miscues from the Vipers, kicking off another 25- 20.

The Lady Griffins did not waste the momentum and skillfully handed the volleyball throughout the third set, not giving a chance for the Lady Vipers to ask for a fourth set. This sealed another record for the Accountancy cluster finishing it out with a 25- 18 score.

At the last part of the third set, the game was temporarily stopped to assist the Lady Vipers captain, Jeriza Uy, who experienced leg muscle cramps during the game. Members from both teams showed camaraderie by helping Uy. First aid was immediately given to her by standby medical personnel.

Leila Monique Dela Cruz, Lady Griffins team captain, expressed her appreciation to their supportive cluster and shared their secret formula for the said win.

“Nagtulungan talaga kami at nangibabaw ang teamwork throughout the game. Maganda ang naging attitude namin in and outside the court kaya okay ang kinalabasan. Thankful kami sa lahat ng nag-support at sana ma-continue ang pagiging champion throughout the next years,” said Dela Cruz.

End the silence of the gagged!
