The National Youth Commission (NYC) Davao led the launching of Women’s Month celebration in the City in People’s Park, Monday afternoon. The event that highlighted their campaign dubbed as “In Her Shoes 3: Fighting Sexual Harassment and Violence Against Women,” aims to promote the rights and welfare of Filipino women.

Around 120 people from Department and Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines and other agencies participated in the said event. Before the event, the participants including the men marched in heels from Roxas Avenue to People’s Park.

According to the commission, the agency that focuses on the affairs concerning the youth, walking with heels is a symbolic act that encourages empathy for women who are being confronted with issues such as domestic violence.  Furthermore, the event also aims to bring awareness on the important role of women in the country’s development.

NYC offices Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga and other cities in Luzon and Visayas simultaneously conducted a similar activity.
