The Metro Davao Medical Research Center, the newest medical tertiary hospital in the city, is set to open this Sunday, September 16. MDMRC is located at JP Laurel Avenue, Bajada, Davao City.

The entire hospital, however, will not be opened this Sunday. Medical offices such as the pharmacy, laboratories, x-ray, and diagnostic centers will be available to the public. The rest of the hospital amenities will be opened before the year ends.

According to Dr. Yvette Yenco-Tan of the MDMRC, 101 clinics will be part of the hospital. Some of these clinics are for pediatrics, surgery, ophthalmology, physical therapy, dermatology, cosmetic surgery, diabetes wellness center by trained interns, and aesthetic and anti-aging clinics.

The newest and revolutionary sound machines from Philips, the iU22 xMATRIX and IE 33 xMATRIX, will be available in the research center. These machines are worth over 15 million pesos.

The research center will also employ green technology. Architect Daniel Briones further added that part of the architectural plan of the medical center building would be its capability of recycling rainwater.

Briones also stated that a total of eight elevators are installed in the research center for the convenience of the patients and hospital staff. Another feature of the research center is the color scheme. Every floor, according to Briones, will be color-coded. Briones said that they do not want to stick to the stereotypical hospital white in order to make the hospital lively. 4,000 square meters are also allotted for the parking space. The parking space will be 50 meters away from the research center.

MDMRC has already received 2,000 applicants. 161 doctors will establish their clinics in the research center. The research center will provide 400 jobs, which includes nursing jobs. Interviews are still in progress.
