A second half goal secured a first place finish for the Father Saturnino Urios University (FSUU) girls football team over Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) last October 28, 2017 at Agro Football Field, Davao.

As the first half began, both teams maintained their eye on the goal as they displayed their respective winning strategies throughout the game. FSUU maintained their defensive nature after Princess Dumlao scored a first goal for the team leading to a 1-0 over AdZU.

Aubrey Eustaqio of AdZU opened the second half with a goal which led to a tie of 1-1. However, Sophia Dagaraga from FSUU responded with a swift goal for her team on the second half that proved to be the nail in the coffin as AdZU was unable to score again.

FSUU football coach Bombet Avenido thanked God for the game and was satisfied with the performance of the team.

“Yung preparation actually it’s all by the grace of God…lahat na lang nandito na, all we had to do was to give our best and to play well,” he shared

AdZU Football Coach Lee Lanuza acknowledged the great feat of FSUU but was still happy with the achievement of his squad.

“FSUU really played very well. They were superior in skills and stamina. Obviously, they prepared well for this tournament, so I give the hats off to them. I expected my team to do as well as they did but obviously the best team won today,” he added.

Five schools competed in this year’s football tournament which featured Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU), Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU), Xavier University (XU), Father Saturnino Urios University (FSUU) and Datu Ibrahim Paglas University (DIPMC).
