The BSA-AT (ACC) Griffins and Business & Management (B&M) Vipers will once again be renewing their storied rivalry against each other after winning their respective matchups during the semi-final games held last Sunday, Jan. 10, 2015 at the Fr. Martinez Sports Complex.

In the first game, the Griffins imposed their will against the Dragons en route to a 61-point blowout. The Dragons never stood a chance, as the Griffins relentlessly applied pressure throughout the contest.

Meanwhile, on the other court, the B&M Vipers had an intense back-and-forth game with the EA Tigers, with the two teams exchanging leads throughout the contest.

During the waning moments of the fourth quarter, the Vipers were able to grab the 44-41 lead courtesy of their clutch playmaking. On the ensuing possession, the Tigers then committed a costly turnover which eventually cost them the game. The final score was 46-41 in favor of the Vipers.

Phillip Mari Corrales, the team captain of the Vipers, shared his experience during the post-game interview.

Ang dula kay intense. Gwapo ang game, maski close game,” Corrales said, fresh from the game with his face drenched in sweat.

When asked about how they won the game against the Tigers, Corrales pointed out that hard work and dedication often come hand-in-hand.

Ang sikreto lang gyud sa amoa kay hardwork lang gyud ug practice. Dapat once na maka step-in ka sa basketball court, dapat ibigay gyud nimo ang 115% ng game mo,” Corrales noted.

The Griffins and the Vipers have still a week to prep themselves up for the championship match. And with the Griffins’ championship-filled history in the men’s basketball category, Corrales is looking forward to the challenge.

“Never pa man namin na-defeat ang BSA[-AT], so doon namin [gawin] ang best magbawi,” Corrales said.

The championship match between the B&M Vipers and the Accountancy Griffins will be held next Sunday, Jan. 17, 2015, at the Almendras Gymnasium.
