December 10 – The Accountancy Lady Griffins edged the School of Engineering and Architecture Lady Tigers 21-19 in the first semifinals game for the Women’s Basketball competition earlier this afternoon.

It was a close fight all throughout between the two competing teams as they were determined to outplay each other and dominate the court in the do-or-die match for the first spot in the Women’s Finals.

Bea Dela Cruz had a solid all-around game for the Griffins, producing 7 points and 4 steals for the winning side. Santos of the Lady Tigers had 11 points in the loss.

In the Men’s division, the SEA Tigers kissed their title defense hopes goodbye as the Business and Management Vipers won in a 58-55 thriller.

Both teams never established big leads, as the Vipers only held a 1-point advantage at the half. The Vipers managed to lead by 4 with two minutes left in the game, and held on to win by three in the end.

Corrales led the Viper onslaught with 18 big points, including two three-pointers, while Denzel Ngo added 17 markers. The hot-scoring duo of Tarranza and Damag produced once again for the Tigers, scoring 13 and 12 respectively. However, their scoring was not enough to give the Tigers the much-needed win.

Ngo shared his sentiments about advancing to the finals and what the Vipers will do to capture the title. According to him, many doubted that they would enter the championships but it served as motivation to prove to everyone what the Vipers are truly capable of.

“I feel great. This win gives my team and I the confidence and the chemistry to move towards our ultimate goal which is to win the championship. Also, we will maintain what we are doing, which is working hard and trusting each other.”
