The Accountancy (BSA/AT) Griffins spiked a winning finish against the Social Science (SS) Dragons during the first semifinals match for volleyball men held at the Martin Hall last August 1.

The game began with the Griffins winning the first set at a score of 25-18. The tides then turned and the Dragons won in the second set at a score of 25-21. Intense rallying got the crowd roaring, and due to technical errors by the Dragons, the Griffins team prevailed in the final set at a score of 25-20.

Griffins team player Philip Fortillo said he was thankful after winning the game.

“I always say to my teammates that we will do our best to win and in everything we do, we shall give thanks to our God,” he said.

Accountancy Division Representative Dan Angelo Timtim shared that he was initially nervous fr the team.

“Kulba kaayo but the key is to trust in your players and what matters is that we do our best and God will do the rest,” he said.

Players for the Dragons included Francis Castillo, Joffrey Mariano, Rommel Brockwell, John Alonsabe, Patrick Pajela, Mikko Insao, Angelito Caparan, Margo Maningo, Carl Miraflores, Ramon Sumugat, Edgar Violan and Reich Cerna. Francis Castillo scored the most during the game and is attributed with 15 points.

Players of the Griffins Team were Florenz Cameros, Philip Fortillo, Hubert Labor, Julius Yamuta, Emmanuel Ruiz, Paulino Alan Tutor, Robeel Jay de Leon, Christopher Mendones, Rico Enriquez, Jay Fuentes, Jasper Chua, Kevin Ortega, Rev Ibay, Gene Seares and Mohammad Tiang.
