“I did not really aim for it. That is why I was very overwhelmed that the university has conferred the award to me,” said Adrianne Kurt Sabate when asked about how he worked in achieving one of the university’s most prestigious honors to be given to a student.

Sabate, a fifth year Accountancy student, was awarded as the most outstanding student for the fourth year level in the recently conducted Gawad Parangal.

“The moment I entered Ateneo, I just did what I’ve been doing ever since I was young and that is to always put my heart in everything I do to excel and to never settle for timidity and complacency,” Sabate added.

Since his stay in the university, Sabate has already been named as the most outstanding student twice, for the second year level and now, for the fourth year level.

When asked about his inspirations, Sabate humbly said that the Lord and his family are the ones that fuel him to work hard.

“We must see these [awards] as means – means to glorify and honor our Creator who has given us the gifts and talents,” Sabate further explained.

He hopes that his story would somehow be an inspiration to others – that despite his fears, failures, and frustrations, he still managed to rise above them.

He further stated that one must be patient and willing to undergo the process of breaking and molding before one could be fully crafted to see the best of themselves and to fulfill life’s purpose.
