Out of the thousand second year students who shed sweat and tears to make it into the honors list last semester, only one student named Melzar Galicia Jr. was awarded the highest recognition which was the most outstanding second year award during the Gawad Parangal last Sept. 16.

He is currently studying business and management. He is also the incumbent SAMAHAN Treasurer, an Arrupe volunteer, a PIGLASAPAT and ASMS member, and was part of the PYLP Student Exchange Program where he was sent to the United States last year.

According to Galicia, he felt honored to have been awarded the most outstanding [Second year] of his batch. He said that the award reassured him that he is still on the right track of achieving his dreams.

He was very thankful that his mentors in his alma mater instilled in him that being good in all things is what a true Ignatian should always strive for.

He was also thankful for those who were a part of his second year life like his “girlfriend, friends, family, and most especially God.”

“To my fellow Ateneans, dili jud ta mag luya-luya! Sayang ang atung kusog ug kabaskog kung atua rang sayangon ang atong oras sa mga walay hinungdang butang. Let us check ourselves constantly and never forget to reflect on all our actions. Let us always remember to render everything to God.”

His inspiration for working hard in both his extra-curricular activities and academics is the desire to become a well-rounded individual.

End the silence of the gagged!
