The Computer Studies (CS) Chameleons hailed as the overall champion in the Utakan: Quiz Bowl 28 last February 22, 2018 at the Arrupe Hall. Outwitting the other seven clusters, the CS Chameleons top notched the difficult round, leading to their victory with an overall score of 108 points.

The School of Engineering & Architecture (SEA) Tigers and the Humanities & Letters (Humlet) Wolves placed 2nd runner-up and 1st runner-up, respectively.

The team of SEA Tigers, however, was not far from the score of CS Chameleons and only needed six points to claim the championship.

Meanwhile, the Humlet Wolves managed to secure the third spot with a score of 86 points.

Mark Samodal, a BS Information Technology student, was one of the participants who represented the CS Cluster.

“I also joined the Utakan last year. We lost because we couldn’t get to a final decision, to get a final answer. But this year, I think we were confident because had Fr. Denny in the team,” Samodal said, highlighting the participation of Fr. Ramon Prudencio Toledo, S.J.

When asked how the team prepared for the quiz bowl, Samodal told that they worked as a team.

Organized by the Office of Students Affair (OSA) and Samahan, the space opera media franchise, Star Wars, inspired the quiz bowl’s theme for this year with the official watchers dressed as stormtroopers during the entire game.

The Utakan: Quiz Bowl is part of the annual celebration of the university’s Festival of Excellence.
