The University of the Southeastern Philippines gymnasium hollered as the crowds cheered for the Heart Strong: A Charity Game organized by Ateneo De Davao and Ateneo De Manila Athletics Department last May 29.

The first match was between the two high school teams. The Ateneo De Davao University-HS Ladies Volleyball team and the University of the Immaculatr Conception-HS. The crowd cheered with every shot scored and gasped with close call. In the end, the match produced the following results:

Set 1: 25-22 AdDU
Set 2: 25-9 AdDU
Set 3: 17-24 UIC
Set 4: 24-21 AdDU

Winner: Ateneo de Davao High School

The main match of the event was between the AdMU Lady Eagles and the Davao Lady Agilas. The crowd loudly and energetically applauded when the two teams were introduced, most especially when AdMU Lady Eagles captain Alyssa Valdez entered the court. Before the start of the match, Valdez was called to give a short message. In her speaking time, she thanked all the spectators for coming and Ateneo de Davao University for hosting both the event and her team.

When the match started, the spectators went wild with every hit and close call. For the first two sets, Valdez stayed on the benches, much to the crowd’s displeasure. When the third set came around, the crowd was cheering: “Pasok na! Alyssa!” repeatedly. When the third set began, Valdez entered the game, much to the delight of the spectators.

In the end, the match produced the following results:

Set 1: 25-20
Set 2: 25-17
Set 3: 25 27
Set 4: 15-25

Winner: Ateneo de Manila Lady Eagles
