The Arrupe Office of Social Formation hosted a forum at the Finster Auditorium last Friday to draw insight from the recent Zamboanga hostilities.

The forum sought to shed light on the Zamboanga siege and to invite the audience to reflect and learn from the event.

“This forum serves as an appropriate tribute to the lives that were lost,” said Ma. Isabel Actub of the Arrupe office.

Actub continued that Mindanaoans need to gather in peace, hope and dialogue.

Fr. Albert Alejo SJ, keynote speaker and member of Zamboanga’s Crisis Management Committee during the attack, shared his experiences and led the audience to the different lessons that could be learned from the event.

An open forum followed to clarify the concerns of the audience.

The 20-day Zamboanga crisis occurred last September when troops of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) under leader Nur Misuari and lieutenant Habier Malik invaded Zamboanga City.

The said forum was in line with the celebration of the Mindanao Week of Peace.
