The night was filled with singing and dancing as a benefit concert dubbed as Subangan: A New Hope, A New Beginning took place at the Finster Auditorium last Dec.10.

The concert was an effort by the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) Chorale in partnership with the Ateneo Sidlak Performing Arts Collective (ASPAC).

The event was conducted for the benefit of the House of Hope Kids with Cancer Foundation.

Khamille Ann Linsag, an alto of the chorale group, shed light on the theme of the concert.

“Ang subangan ay nagmula sa salitang Mandaya. Ang ibig sabihin nito ay “ang lugar kung saan sumisikat ang araw”. Pwede rin itong lugar kung saan tayo nakahanap ng pag-asa.”

An official statement published by the AdDU Chorale stated the rationale of the said event.

“It has been in our tradition to tap different organizations to be our beneficiary. In this regard, we have chosen the House of Hope Foundation. The theme of the concert emphasizes giving hope to those in need.”

Funds were raised through concert tickets and the proceeds went to the beneficiaries.

End the silence of the gagged!
