Nyll Gabrylle Gascon from the Accountancy (ACC) division triumphed over the rest of the division players of the men’s chess tournament for the 2016 Palarong Atenista today, August 12 at F213, Ateneo de Davao University.

The top 3 players, based on the standing after Round 3 of 5 rounds, were Nyll Gabrylle Gascon from the Accountancy (ACC) division (who garnered 3 points), Jehu Malabar from the Business and Management (B&M) division, Miguel Pulido from the Social Sciences (SS) cluster, Mikko Alinsub from the School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) (all garnered 2 points), Ghen Erik Mario Sobrevega from the School of Education (SOE), Taisho Nudas from the Humanities and Letters (HUMLET) division and Earl Francis Tomines from the Computer Studies (CS) division (who all garnered 1 point).

For the women’s chess tournament, Daniella Marie Panaligan, also from the ACC division, was declared as champion.

The top 3 players, based on the standing after Round 3 of 5 rounds, were Daniella Marie Panaligan from ACC (who garnered 3 points), Manelle Joy Kadusale from HumLet, Shaira Andres from NSM/SON, Jennifer Monato from SS (who all garnered 2 points), Lance Marie Quiñonez from B&M, Marian Elaine Santander from SOE and Maria Theresa Tanudtanud from SEA (who all garnered 1 point).

The final results, after the fifth and final round, are the following:
