After the performances from the different clusters and schools, the Accountancy (BSA/AT) cluster prevailed as the champion for the Sayawtenista 2016 last night, Aug. 15.

The theme for this year’s Sayawtenista was Philippine History which was where the participants’ unique concepts revolved. Each cluster or school had one historical event that was incorporated to the dance routines, costumes and props. They had to portray their respective historical events well and interpret them, at the same time.

The Computer Studies (CS) cluster brought the GomBurZa incident to life as the performers filled the stage. For the Business and Management (B&M), the Bagyong Yolanda; For the School of Education (SOE), the Martial Law; For the School of Nursing (SON), the Mamasapano Clash; For the Social Sciences (SS), the Miss Universe 2015; for the Accountancy cluster, the Uprising of the KKK; for the Humanities and Letters (HumLet), the Japanese Occupation; For the Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NSM), The EDSA Revolution and for the School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA), the Death March.

The B&M Vipers and the SON Panthers placed 2nd runner-up and 1st runner-up, respectively. The dancers, especially the performers from the Accountancy cluster, who were hailed as the Sayawtenista 2016 champions, got emotional as they climbed up the stage to get their awards.

“It’s very overwhelming since this is my last year as a dancer and we’ve been fighting for this for three years already. The sacrifices are all worth it and I’m so thankful for God because he gave Jags [Jaguars] another blessing,” Julius Yamuta, one of the Accountancy dancers, said after the winners’ repeat performance.
