“Happy fiesta!”

This was the cheerful greeting of a non-teaching staff to a student who first waved at her as she enjoyed eating food from the Campus Club Organization (CCO) Gimikan booths which opened last Aug. 11 at the Arrupe Hall, Ateneo de Davao University.

With this year’s theme “Fun U: University of Fun”, CCO’s Gimikan features three main activities. The “University Tour” presents the booths of the Fiesta’s sponsors and clubs, students are allowed entry to the site for a fee of Php 5.00. The other two main activities include the “University Time Machine”, which was made in collaboration with the Mysterescape Inc., and the “University Dorm”, which is a horror house.

“All the proceeds [of the activities] will be given to Mabini National High School,” SALEM President and CCO External Vice-president Erika Gadat stated.

The “University Tour” features a variety of stalls, activities, and booths for the students.

The Ateneo Photographers Society (APS) opened a photo-booth complete with props, a green screen, and on-location background editing, and printing. For 10 pesos, they offer one wallet size photo and an entry to their raffle draw.

Meanwhile, the SINIKOM regularly announces anonymous crush messages, and greetings from the students.

AIESEC occupied the longest table in the Gimikan. Their exchange students manned the booth and sold food from their countries.

EnviCo has a game booth featuring different activities. For their shooting game, the player must hit objects and collect five points to win a prize. For the “Minute to Win it”, the player must complete six tasks within one minute to win a 500 pesos. There is a ping pong game at the Jesuit Residence with snacks and premium chocolates.

ArtCo also offers a cosplay café where cosplayers serve the customers with cakes and drinks of their choice.

Meanwhile, Humanities and Letters Chair Fr. Erwin Rommel Torres is selling colored hybrid cacti imported from Holland. The proceeds of his sales will go to three scholars supported by Torres himself.

CCO Gimikan will be open until Saturday.
