May forever sa happiness ng mga bata,” Lunar Fayloga, the SAMAHAN Central Board moderator, emphasized during his opening address for the fiesta’s Children’s Hour event.

Young children gathered together for games and prizes during the said event yesterday morning, Aug. 14, at room F213 of Ateneo de Davao University.

The Children’s Hour is annually hosted by the SAMAHAN Welfare Committee during every Ateneo Fiesta celebration.

In attendance were 50 children between the ages of four and 15 from the Paginhawaan Dropping Center under the City Social Services and Development Office.

The children participated in the activities planned for them as well as received prizes.

Also, about 100 student volunteers from the various organizations of the university participated in hosting the event and in playing with the children.

“[The Children’s Hour] aims to let students practice their being men and women for others, an avenue to let them help a child in need,” Jaira Lagdameo, the head for the SAMAHAN Welfare Committee, said when asked about the purpose of the event.

The SAMAHAN Welfare Committee hosted the event in partnership with Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral ng Sikolohiyang Filipino (SAMASIKOFIL), the ACIL the Ateneo Catechetical Instruction League (ACIL), and the Junior Social Workers’ Association of the Philippines (JSWAP).
